Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is a big cascade in the Gianyar area of Bali, just a short distance from Ubud.

This Ubud waterfall has already been discovered by the Instagram masses, but don’t let that keep you away! It’s super photogenic, and if you come at the right time you still might be able to avoid the crowds.

Kanto Lampo is a nice cascade waterfall that drops down some rocks into a shallow natural pool in the river.

The water is shallow enough for kids (when we went in August it was knee high), although if you go up the river a bit it gets deeper (chest high).

The word is out on Kanto Lampo and it gets pretty crowded with photo seekers, but it’s still not nearly as busy as Tegenungan Waterfall.

Just watch your step inside and outside of the water, because the rocks can be very slippery. There’s a local guy that takes great photos for a tip (10k is fine).

Supposedly Kanto Lampo gets its name from a rare exotic fruit in the area, but we didn’t see any on our visit.

If you explore the area some more, there’s bizarre rock carvings, a small bat cave, and a second viewpoint across the river where you can see the waterfall from above.

All in all, I’d rate it as one of Bali’s best waterfalls!
